  Artist's Statement

As an outdoor enthusiast I visit many beautiful wilderness areas. My goal is to capture the essence of that beauty through photography and bring it back for others to enjoy. I view photography as the "art of seeing" and I am grateful to it for improving my "seeing" and in turn enhancing my life every day whether I am shooting or not. Through photography I have learned to notice, appreciate and enjoy natural details such as patterns, color subtleties and qualities of light.

Photography encourages me to wake up a little earlier to watch the sunrise, linger a little longer in a beautiful place to see what it has to visually offer and wander a little farther to see what is over the next rise. The memories I capture are very important to me whether it is a quick snapshot to remember a moment or a carefully crafted photograph that is aesthetically pleasing to view and is publishable. My innate and deep-rooted passion to "explore" will continue to take me to new and wonderful places and continue to provide me with an endless supply of visual beauty to capture on film.
